We’re no strangers to the Magento platform – here at Twentyone, we’ve been building Magento websites for years, regularly exceeding customer expectations with beautifully designed sites based on one of the world’s most popular eCommerce platforms. Magento 2 is the newest generation of this platform; due to growing customer demand, our digital experts are now beginning to develop several new Magento 2 websites for our clients.
Firstly, we’ll give you a quick recap. You’ll already be familiar with Magento, one of the most widespread eCommerce platforms in the industry. It’s become known for its powerful, flexible feature set, as well as incorporating intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces – giving its users total control over the look, feel and functionality of their eCommerce sites. It’s also scalable, allowing businesses to grow naturally without having to worry about whether their company websites can keep up with the demand. This all goes some way to explaining why today, over 250,000 people are using Magento.
In November 2015, after years of development, Magento 2 was released. Magento’s codebase was completely rewritten to create Magento 2. Building upon many of the brilliant features of Magento 1, Magento 2 further enhances both the performance and scalability of sites with a design that’s more streamlined, agile and user-friendly than ever before.
Since the initial release of Magento 2, we’ve been carefully monitoring the development of it here at Twentyone, while still continuing our brilliant track record of using Magento 1 to create stunning custom-themed websites for our clients. Over time, we’ve identified a growing demand amongst our customers to build or upgrade their sites to the Magento 2 platform. This is particularly true for some of our larger customers, including those with multiple ecommerce channels, or those who want to increase their business efficiency.
To meet this customer demand, we’ve taken steps to upskill our digital experts in the architecture and operation of Magento 2, familiarising ourselves with the newest generation of the platform and using it to expand our core service offerings of website design and development.
“Magento’s latest instalment is really leading the way forward in eCommerce.” says Michael Cain, our Technical Director. “Magento 2 has a totally new code base, and an even more streamlined and responsive backend design. It’s also robust enough to handle much heavier demands than other conventional platforms, making it easy to see why Magento 2 is so popular with so many eCommerce enterprises.”
If you’re worried about whether or not this means you have to upgrade, don’t be! The release of Magento 2 won’t affect the running of existing Magento 1 sites, and not everyone will need to upgrade. Having said that, it might be worth considering if you have rapid growth plans for your business, or your existing website is struggling to cope with the demand.
