We all know that email marketing is one of the best ways to reach potential consumers. While websites and social media remain key factors in any outreach strategy, email marketing still provides the most powerful medium. However, email marketing will only work so long as you have the relevant contacts in your email marketing list. Fail to keep it up to date and you’ll struggle to reap the benefits you’ve hoped for.
Growing your email marketing list is easy, it just requires a refresh of your marketing strategy. The right strategy will ensure you’re collecting valuable customer contact details; email address they actually use on a day-to-day basis, not just throwaway emails they’ve set up purely for junk.
Use your current email marketing contact list to work out which of your contacts remain valuable and who needs to be taken off your database. You can do this by creating an engaging opt-in message to send to all of your contacts, encouraging those who are interested in your business to opt-in and continue being part of your community, while removing those who fail to show any interest.
To keep potential customers engaged with your brand it’s key that you keep them interested with stellar content. This will also increase the chances that your content will be shared, increasing the number of contacts on your database. Encouraging your current email subscribers to share and forward your emails by including social sharing buttons and an “Email to a Friend” button in your emails is a great way to simplify this process.
No-one can resists a giveaway and it’s a surefire way to increase the number of contacts interested in the services or products you offer. Social media and websites are good places to shout about your latest competition – just make sure you have an email address field as part of the entry process!
Add a link to your email signatures that takes users to a sign-up page for your mailing list; Leverage social media, including YouTube, adding links to your videos and description that take users to your mailing list sign-up page; collect email addresses at offline events and import them into your database once back in the office. Maximise the chances of reaching a wider audience by taking advantage of every opportunity.
Make sure any offers to sign-up to your email marketing list are clear and engaging. Keep the offers up front and include them on every page and within your blog posts to ensure maximum outreach and increase the likelihood of sign-ups.
